Innovative Laser Procedure Restores Gynecologic Health

Women’s Health Specialists has added a leading edge treatment to its practice to resolve gynecologic health issues often caused by menopause. Affecting as many as 50 percent of postmenopausal women, these changes in gynecological health can include vaginal discomfort, itching, dryness and painful intercourse.

The MonaLisa Touch®, an in-office procedure that is virtually painless with no side effects and requires no anesthesia, received FDA clearance 2014. The MonaLisa Touch delivers fractional CO2 laser energy to the vaginal wall and/or vulvar tissue, so cells make more collagen. Patients undergo three treatments spaced six weeks apart, and each treatment time is less than five minutes.

“MonaLisa Touch is a real breakthrough for feminine health,” said Karen S. Lyons, M.D., the first physician in Southcentral Kentucky to offer the new treatment.  “It offers a quick and virtually painless remedy for a medical condition with a large unmet need for an effective treatment option. I am grateful I am able to offer my patients this treatment.”

Women’s Health Specialists will present an educational seminar on Tuesday, March 8 at 6 p.m. at its office in the Medical Arts Building, Suite 203. Space is limited. To reserve your spot or for more information on MonaLisa Touch, call 270-781-0075.
